It’s April! Beautiful, sunny day to go for a walk or a bike ride. Play it safe and wash your hands often.

Here is my daily update. Online classes officially start the week of April 20th. Teachers may start earlier, I will continue to post new online learning opportunities for all of my students daily.

Today I give an overview of Module 1 in Everfi’s Mental Wellness Basics, the online course posted below. I am also offering Everfi’s course entitled Marketplace: Investing Basics.

As I have stated before, one to two weeks off can be fun, but three weeks or longer can become stressful. Your grades for these course do not “count” for Bodine grades but the information can be super helpful for you, especially at this time. This course addresses stress and healthy ways to deal with it. Please use your time off to keep learning something new every day.

There are 4 Modules in Everfi’s Mental Wellness Basics. Module 1 discusses what we mean when we talk about Mental Health and the module addresses the impact of stress on our mental health.

This course speaks positively to all students about your own mental wellness. The impact of stress, the influence the brain has on each person, and the impact our environment can have on our mental health are all addressed. Similar to physical health, mental health is fostered through the choices we make, including our ability to notice when our mental health is at risk.

In Module 1 students will be able to:
– Describe mental health.
– List behaviors and factors that maintain and contribute to positive mental health.
– Describe how stress contributes to mental health.
– List behaviors and factors that threaten positive mental health.

IB Business Management Seniors
Remember, IB exams will not take place this year.
The final unit in our text book is Unit 2.6, Employer and Employee Relations. Wow, there is no time better than the present to discuss this topic. We will be meeting online via Google Hangouts Meet twice a week for a half hour. Try to keep up with these posts and finish the text book, that way you will feel comfortable discussing these topics online later this month.
The first part of Unit 2.6 discusses trade unions and collective bargaining.
Yesterday I posted the following videos:
First, watch this video from Tutor2u explaining what trade unions are.
Next, watch this video from Tutor2u on trade unions and collective bargaining, especially how if affects wages.
Today, here is an additional video from tutor2u on trade unions in the UK.

IB Business Management Juniors
In Unit 3.6 we discuss Efficiency Ratio Analysis. The previous video I posted was about Stock Turnover, also known as Inventory Turnover. This ratio gives an idea of how many time a business sells its inventory within a given time period, usually one year.
In Unit 3.6, Debtor Days Ratio and Creditor Days Ratio are discussed. Watch this video from Tutor2u on Debtor Days and Creditor Days ratios. We will be meeting online via Google Hangouts Meet twice a week for a half hour. Try to keep up with these posts, that way you will feel comfortable discussing these topics online later this month.

Today I offer this video from Tutor2u explaining the Gearing Ratio. Gearing ratio looks at a business’ long-term liquidity position. The ratio examines a company’s capital employed that is financed by long-term debt, like mortgages and debentures. Watch the video and see if you can answer Case Study 3.6.2 on Calculating Gearing Ratios.
