Here is my daily update. Today I give an overview of Module 4 in Everfi’s Marketplace, the online course posted below. I also offer a new Everfi course entitled Mental Wellness Basics.

This is new! I have made a new course available to ALL BODINE STUDENTS. This free, self-paced online course is about Mental Wellness Basics. One to two weeks off can be fun, but three weeks or longer can become stressful, right?! Your grades for this course do not “count” for Bodine grades but the information can be super helpful for you, especially at this time. This course addresses stress and healthy ways to deal with it. Please use your time off to keep learning something new every day. I will find a way to reward my students who take these online classes.

Here are Resources for Families During the Coronavirus Outbreak.

April 13th is the newest re-start date, but that may change. Keep an eye on the news.

NEW OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL STUDENTS!

For all Bodine students, here is an online course from Everfi entitled Marketplaces: Investing Basics. Please share this opportunity with your family and friends!

As students prepare to enter the working world it is more important than ever to have personal finance skills. Just look at economic effects of the Coronavirus; would you be financially prepared if you were to lose your job?

Marketplaces Online Course Overview:
There are five Modules in Marketplaces.
Module 4, entitled Keys to Investing addresses Saving vs. Investing, Reasons to Invest, Stocks, Bonds, Asset Allocation, Diversification, and Types of Funds for Diversification.
This lesson introduces different types of financial assets and how to use asset allocation and diversification to balance risk and reward. Students meet with a financial advisor to discover how investing can help them achieve their long-term goals. They apply what they have learned by taking on the role of an advisor to determine the best asset allocation for each client portfolio

By the end of this Module, students will be able to:
– Evaluate when to save versus invest.
– Compare different types of financial assets.
– Analyze an investor’s financial profile and determine an appropriate asset allocation.
– Defend the need for portfolio diversification.

I will continue to provide additional online activities and articles for students who wish to keep learning subject-specific material over the Coronavirus Break. All lessons are voluntary, these “grades” will not count towards actual grades at this time. This work may “count” in the future when school re-starts. All students will be given time to complete all activities when school re-starts.

Personal Finance
For my Personal Finance students, I would expect you to complete the Everfi course posted above, if you have internet access and the time to do it.
For the 3rd Marking Period,
Modules only up to Module 10 will count towards grades.

Students may continue modules at Moneyskill.org.
