All students, here is your Question of the Day

Computer Science 1 and 9
For today’s warm up, choose an activity from CoolMath.com. In addition, try today’s New York Times News Quiz.
Today’s assignment is creative and meaningful writing about saving our School District. The District said they have run out of money and have therefore have eliminated many programs for next year. At this moment, there will be no after-school sports or clubs. All assistant principals and school counselors have been laid off (lost their jobs). Librarians, secretaries, nurses, art programs and music programs are also being cut.
Your assignment: Write a three-paragraph letter to President Obama, our local Mayor, our state Governor, a local athlete or anyone else who you feel might be able to rescue our School District. Raising money appears to be the biggest issue. In the first paragraph, introduce yourself and explain why you are concerned. In the second paragraph, describe what next year might look like with all of these cuts. How will it personally affect you? In the third paragraph, propose a solution and thank the person for taking the time to read your letter. Save your work, Google Drive is recommended. If time permits, do a Peer Edit with a neighbor. We will print your work on Friday.

12th Grade IB Business Management
Students will use this period to plan for their college experience. One great resource is CollegeData.com. From our lessons on Social Media, I encourage Bodine students to read student blogs from the university they will be attending. Also, take a look at this blog on 1st year student experiences. Students leaving Philadelphia may wish to research their “college town.”

Students will begin planning for their Internal Assessments. I recommend students go to my Edmodo.com website and read sample Internal Assessments. Here is another helpful website with tips for working on your IA.

Personal Finance
Students will log on to MoneySkill.org and complete their next Module. Try to get to Module 5. Any student who complete Module 6 will receive a Dunkin Donuts treat from me.
